Why all the haters over Sauna Suits ?

Question by mikeb: Why all the haters over Sauna Suits ? So, I recently purchased a sauna suit and definitely sweat a lot more than I do without it. I even sleep with it on at times.. I've got skin issues too, and this helps that as well by keeping the skin more moisturized and helping toxin release. You even feel better if you wear it daily I feel. (again....more toxin release just as if you were exercising) My question is why in almost every post I read about "does sauna suits help weight loss"....most people say no and it's just water that is lost. WHHHHHYYY are soo many people so negative like that. It's like a 100% of the replies....when theoretically , a decent amount of fat and not just water should be lost as well. Especially if your on a diet and only eating like a 1000 calories a day. Especially if one is exercising while having a sauna suit on, this would accelerate fat loss as well....or SHOULD. If not, please be detailed in why explaining not. If it makes it hotter inside your body.....and more sweat...this should result in both more water and fat loss. Obviously if we're just idle and not exercising it would be less fat and more water....but still fat would be slowly sweating out as well. Best answer:

We burn a number of calories every time our heart beats. This has been proven and is why you know a workout is good by your heart rate afterwards. This is also how we have these heart rate/calorie counter watches. So, why does the heart beat during exercise? Energy, oxygen and heat to muscles. The more energy needed, the more it beats. The more oxygen you need, the more it beats. The more HEAT it needs, the more it beats. So, if you take a sauna suit which does most of the heating for you, your heart has one less thing to work for. So, the only weight you will lose is water weight, which is bad...because we need water. After a sweaty workout, you're thirsty because you lost lots of water. So, the sauna suit which makes you sweat is countered by your next glass of water. This is the same reason why running, or just standing in the cold burns more calories. Is that the sort of detail you were looking for?

You don't sweat out fat or toxins. You sweat out water, urea and minerals that you need to replenish or you die. Making your internal temperature higher actually can denature proteins and just kill you. Worse a sauna suit might do is make your body SLOW DOWN and produce less heat so you don't overheat. You're doing the exact opposite of what you want.

Sauna suits have only one purpose: Losing water weight for TEMPORARY weight loss. The only people who get a real benefit from a sauna suit are combat athletes, like boxers, wrestlers, and MMA fighters who can weigh in the day before their match. They sweat out as much water as possible before stepping on the scale, then gain it ALL back before stepping in the ring. People see these incredibly fit athletes using the sauna suits, and jump to the wrong conclusion: "If I wear a sauna suit, I'll get a body like them." WRONG. First, your body doesn't sweat out fat. This is a fact. There is no mechanism for the body to take stored fat and excrete it directly through the skin. There are some natural oils that your skin secretes, but these are different. The sauna suit (and even the sauna manufacturers) quote a Japanese study that is supposed to prove saunas burn 600 calories per hour. They're reading the study wrong, because sauna use also helps chronically underweight people gain weight. Exercise is one method to reduce fat. But, if you're exercising in a sauna suit, you're dehydrating yourself by forcing your body to sweat more than it normally needs to. When you are dehydrated, you can't exercise as efficiently. So that extra sweat is making your exercise less effective. Oh, and since you're dehydrating yourself while exercising, you put yourself at real risk of heat stroke or exhaustion. Dangerous conditions that can have long-term consequences. Meanwhile, if you're claiming toxin release, and you've got a vinyl sauna suit, you're really wrong. Vinyls emit all sorts of toxic chemicals, and sweat is a two-way street. Those toxins are rushing into your body. They're great ones too, proven to cause cancer, birth defects and endocrine disorders. So why all the haters? Because sauna suits are easy to hate. It's a hyped up product that has no value to the vast majority of the people who are buying them.
