For instance, as a test, I once posted a question with the title "Weight loss?" and the message body read "I want to do the opposite of weight loss - I want to GAIN lots of weight - how can I do this?" It got five replies, and four of those were automated ad-spam replies advertising weight loss products. Why does Yahoo tolerate this sort of thing? Best answer:

They don't 'tolerate' it; they simply don't have the resources to stop it. About 75% of the spam postings ARE stopped before they ever hit the site. Scary, huh?! We see the remaining 25% -- and they will congregate where they can make money -- weight loss, personal finance, work-at-home schemes. Since Yahoo does not have enough staff to monitor these postings, they rely on us to do it for them. So my question to you is, did you report them? Because THAT is the only thing that will eventually get them suspended.
