Which whey supplement is best for someone looking to increase protein AND lose weight?

Question by Andrea S: Which whey supplement is best for someone looking to increase protein AND lose weight? I'm looking for something natural (no artificial sweeteners) and healthy. A promising product specifically said "NOT for weight loss"--why? I need to increase protein, but I can't eat huge amounts of animal products. I just want to repeat: I will not use anything with artificial sweeteners, specifically aspartame, sucralose, acesulfame-K, & saccharine. Sugar alcohols are okay (xylitol, erythritol) but thus far I haven't seen any products use them. Best answer:

Use a low calorie Protein powder. Most have some form of artificial sweeteners which are not bad for you, sugar alcohol is especially safe.

You can replace meat with beans, legumes and nuts. All of these are chalked full of fiber ,the beans being the highest.I don't care for meat myself and have found a way to get my days protein plus fiber. We eat beans for meat all the time to get our quote of protein, just read the cans for the highest amounts and make them yourself from the bags, you will find its much cheaper this way. Also peanut butter has alot of protein.Start looking at labels of the foods you choose to find what works for you.No need to buy expensive protein drinks.

I take Body Fortress Whey Protein Shots. They come in a 6-pack, but are sold individually at Wal Mart. There's 26 grams of protein in each little shot and at 110 calories, you can't beat them. They are sugarfree, but sucralose is at the very bottom of the ingredient list. I also use Optimum Nutrition Any Whey (you can buy at GNC) which has 17 grams of protein, at 70 calories/serving. It's unflavored. I put it in sauces and soups that are already strongly flavored. I also like Unjury Chicken Soup flavored protein powder, which has 21 grams of protein at 90 calories/serving. I believe that the reason they say NOT for weight loss is that the manufacturers don't want you to confuse the supplement for a "meal replacement" product like Atkins or SlimFast, which have the necessary nutrients for the manufacturers to call it a "meal replacement" product that's suitable for weight loss. The protein supplements are pretty much just that--protein only. Based on your edited Q, Unjury Chicken Soup has no artificial sweeteners. Here are the ingredients: Ingredients: Whey protein isolate, hydrolyzed soybean/corn protein, salt, hydrolyzed corn gluten, soy lecithin, yeast extract, onion powder, garlic powder, disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate, spice and coloring (contains tumeric), modified cornstarch, spices and herbs, natural flavors. Neither does their Unflavored Protein: Ingredients: Whey protein isolate and soy lecithin Neither does the Optimum Nutrition Any Whey Ingredients: Whey Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Hydrolysate), natural flavor, Lecithin.

I like Shirataki Diva's answer. Health Wise also sells fruit-flavored powdered drink packets (Mango Peach, Pineapple Orange, Wild Berry, etc) that have 15 grams of protein and the calorie count ranges from 60 to 80 calories for each packet. They sell a variety pack so that you can choose your favorite flavor. However these do contain Aspartame.

You might want to try STG Whey. It has what you need but isn't over priced.
